Perry and Brand marry - with blessing from psychic parrot
SHE MIGHT HAVE KISSED A GIRL – but pop starlet Katy Perry married Russell Brand, in a sunset ceremony at a tiger reserve in India last night.
The couple – who had been dating for just over a year – were wed in a luxury resort with their Hindu ceremony presided over by a friend of Perry’s family, and The Sun reports that the pair both wore traditional Indian dress.
Their wedding procession included 21 camels, elephants and horses, it added.
Brand was reportedly worried that he may have been taken in by local piece for questioning after he and his reporters apparently exchanged blows with press photographers following him as he went on safari with comedian pal David Baddiel.
A local official said that a four-man committee had been formed to ensure that the celebrations after the nuptials did not impact on the wildlife of the Aman-e-Khas resort in the Rajasthan state. Their celebrations are set to continue for six days.
One of the attractions at the post-wedding ceremony is understood to have been a fortune-telling parrot, which had attended along with its Hindu guru owner, and which told the fortunes of guests.
Asked to predict the future of the newlyweds, the parrot (perhaps conveniently) said it foresaw a long life, happy marriage and long and successful careers for both the bride and groom, as it picked out cards which were translated into Hindi by its owner.
The couple are understood to have declined the opportunity to enter into a pre-nuptial agreement.
