Here's the final hour montage of Phantom FM and the last song played

AT MIDNIGHT LAST night Dublin radio station Phantom 105.2 ceased broadcasting.

Station stalwart John Caddell took the helm for the final live show yesterday evening before three and a half hours of memories and tributes brought Phantom to a close.

The final hour was dedicated to a montage of audio spanning the former pirate station’s life as a legal entity, including presenter intros, station highlights like a Nirvana day and presenting New Order with a special listener award, the first legal broadcast on 31 October 2006, and the legendary Heavy Traffic promos.

The broadcast ended with  Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, The Frames’ Revelate, and then silence.

Phantom is being rebranded by Communicorp  - which has executive control of the station – as TXFM, which will begin officially broadcasting on 31 March. Until then automated music will play on the 105.2 frequency.
