Spectacular photos of the huge lightning storm over Cork

Wow.

MUCH OF THE southern part of the country was battered by thunder and lightning last night.

In two hours alone earlier this morning, the BBC recorded 3,000 lightning strikes across Ireland and the UK.

These photos show the scenes in Baltimore, west Cork late last night:

This photo was taken in the dark by 12-year-old Daniel Hegarty, but the lightning makes it look like day.

According to Met Eireann, the bad weather is spreading north this morning while conditions will improve in the south.
