LET’S BE HONEST, it’s perfectly ‘acceptable’ to eat anywhere alone, but sometimes you just want the perfect nook or cranny in a cafe so you don’t have to make yourself too obvious.
1. Cornucopia, Wicklow Street
This little veggie spot is perfect for your loner self. They have stools against the window
2. Food Hall, Liffey Street Lower
You’ve got so much choice here AND you’ll blend in nicely with the crowd. Go for the Ugly Ducking burgers or something special from the burrito place.
3. Metro Cafe, South William St
An excellent spot for some solo brunch. Nab a seat outside and watch people go by without someone else’s face in the way. Company, peh.
4. Stephen’s Green Food Hall
OK so not an option if you want to be posh, but for a quick meal that you won’t feel uneasy eating, one of the best spots is propped up on a stool overlooking the end of Grafton Street. Sure who wants company?
5. The Butcher Grill, Ranelagh
Looking for an excellent steak? Eat at the bar.
6. Yamamori Sushi, Ormond Quay
Going into this Yamamori is like walking into a fancy canteen. A lot of tables are long and can accommodate many people sitting alone, or you can chose a small table off to the side if you prefer to be alone.
7. IFI Cafe, Eustace Street
Lone people are usually found slung over their laptops, tucking into some of the tasty food from the Irish Film Institute’s cafe. You could join them.
8. Simon’s Place, South Great George’s Street
In Simon’s Place, people kinda just sit wherever they see some free space. Being along will actually work to your advantage, and the coffee and sambos are just excellent.
9. Fallon and Byrne, Exchequer Street
Grab a stool and some grub from Fallon and Byrne’s deli counter and watch the shoppers go about their day.
10. Eddie Rockets, pretty much anywhere
Pending your ability to blank out large groups of teenagers screaming at each other, the bar in Eddie Rockets is the ideal place to sit alone. Not only that, but the food is pure home comfort.
12. Yo Sushi!, Clarendon Street
The one place on the last where you’re actually BETTER OFF eating alone. Sit up against the conveyor and pick and choose what you want to eat.
13. O’Neills, Suffolk Street
This touristy pub is full of nooks you can cosy into with a beast of a carvery on Sunday. Chill out, watch the sports, and always experience a good atmosphere–alone or otherwise.
