Police wreck sports car after confiscating it from owner
TWO POLICE OFFICERS IN CHESHIRE, England, crashed and wrote-off a sports car shortly after stopping the driver for suspected drink-driving.
Both officers have been suspended from driving duty.
They had stopped the car for driving erratically, the Telegraph reports, at around 2.15am today.
The driver, 23, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and the police impounded his Mistubishi Lancer Evolution.
Police procedure is to wait for a recovery vehicle to remove an impounded car.
However, the two police officers drove the car across a grass verge and across a garden before crashing it through a fence and coming to rest on its side. The officers were found inside the vehicle, suffering from minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation by a police standards unit. The 23-year-old driver remains in custody.
