AS OF THIS MORNING, thousands of Americans will be able to say “Thanks, Penneys!” (well, Primark) when someone compliments them on their clothes.
Primark opened its first US store in Boston earlier today, with its cheap’n'cheerful wares spread across four floors of the old Filene’s department store building in Downtown Crossing.
There were naturally queues around the block before the grand opening:
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was presided over by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh (who you may have guessed has Irish roots), and even the scissors were decorated for the occasion:
And when the doors opened, everybody PEGGED IT in.
And what of inside the store? Well, it’s much the same as Irish stores…
Except…
It has free WiFi, lounges, and a phone charging station.
Hey! Penneys! Share the comfort around, maybe?
Nevertheless – good bargain hunting, American pals, and may you always wrestle that last size 12 jumper from another shopper’s grasp.
