OVER THE WEEKEND, news broke that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had gotten engaged after just two months of dating.
The couple travelled to Priyanka’s native India to participate in a pre-wedding ceremony known as a roka, and were only delighted with themselves if their respective Instagrams were anything to go by.
And they weren’t the only ones.
Turns out Priyanka’s mam would fit in well with our own, and has been chatting to beat the band about the latest developments in her daughter’s love life.
Speaking to India’s Daily News and Analysis, Madhu Chopra was full of praise for her future son-in-law.
He’s a wonderful person and everyone in the family just loves him. He’s so polite and respectful towards elders. What more can a mother want?
And as for deciding to tie the knot after just eight weeks of dating?
Madhu has Priyanka’s back on this one.
I always trust Priyanka’s judgment; she’s not impulsive. She gave it a lot of thought and when she decided on something, I was sure it would be good.
And sure naturally, she also has the inside scoop on the couple’s thoughts on a potential wedding date.
And she wasn’t above giving hints either.
They haven’t decided on a wedding date yet. It’s too soon. These are just baseless rumors. Both of them have work commitments right now which they need to finish. They will take some time to decide where they want it and when they want it.
Good woman yourself Madhu, keep that coming.
Meanwhile, in a candid interview with Marie Claire, Priyanka admitted that America’s current political climate means that she finds being an immigrant ‘a little scary’ right now.
While the 36-year-old actress has nothing but praise for the country that has welcomed her, she is keen to use her status as an opportunity to influence others on certain policies, including border control.
I am a working immigrant myself. I’ve worked with UNICEF with refugee children; I’ve seen what it feels like when you’re displaced. I try and use my platform to talk about kindness and compassion. We as people need to stand up for what we think is right and what we feel is right.
