IN THE SMALL town of Aglish, Tipperary, there’s one very special Airbnb.
Run by hosts Erron and Dave, Conroy’s Old Bar is ‘Ireland’s first self-catering pub’, and could well be the only one in the world. From the outside, it looks like any pub you’d find around the country.
However, on the inside you’ll find that it’s a little bit more homely than your local.
Couches that colour wouldn’t last a night in a regular pub. Just as well this pub is private.
The living room is nice and all, but the main attraction lies behind it.
Just a couple of feet away from the living room, you’ll find the bar.
From the moment you enter the property you’d be fully convinced you were in an actual pub.
They have a dart board and the works.
There’s plenty of seating space.
Not far from the bedroom either. Saves you the horrible walk home from the pub in the winter.
There’s plenty of attention to detail. They’ve still got a cash register behind the counter and everything.
Can you imagine how much fun this Airbnb would be to stay in if you were a child?
Apart from the fact that Pint Baby would run amok on a family holiday here, it would be so much fun to ‘play’ pub, that it’s likely the vast majority of adults that stay here end up doing it too.
The accommodation sleeps four guests. There are two double bedrooms and you get the whole pub to yourself, so you can pretend that you’re Peggy Mitchell all night and nobody has to know.
The only downsides are that the Airbnb is so deep in Tipperary that it would be very difficult to holiday here if you hadn’t got a car. The nearest shop is 4 miles away and the nearest restaurant is 6 miles from the pub.
Reviews have been pretty positive. If the pub to play around with isn’t enough to entertain kids, there’s also a fairy garden which guests were equally as impressed with.
