13 pubs in Dublin that are turning away Twelve Pubs groups

No need to fear. All is calm, all is bright in here.

THOUGH THE 12 PUBS of Christmas is now a bona fide festive tradition, the tide is turning against it in Dublin pubs.

We covered this last year, and yesterday Publin.ie ran this list of Dublin pubs not taking part this Christmas - we’ve contacted the pubs on the list to confirm, and added a few of our own.

1. The Swan, Aungier Street

The folks at The Swan are pretty vehement in their opposition to 12 Pubs:

We’re definitely not doing it. I can guarantee you that.

2. The Black Sheep, Capel Street

While they will be taking in some 12 Pubs groups, the pub manager told DailyEdge.ie: “We’re doing it, but we’re not encouraging it. We’ll be strict enough about the antics.”

3. The Grafton Lounge, Duke Lane

The Grafton Lounge normally don’t take 12 Pubs groups, and this year is no different.

4. McNeill’s, Capel Street

The trad pub is avoiding the “hassle” of 12 Pubs this Christmas.

5. The Headline, Clanbrassil Street

This craft beer pub is also saying no.

6. Opium, Camden Street

This cocktail and tapas bar aren’t giving in to the Camden Street madness this year.

7. JJ Smyths, Aungier Street

The jazz and blues pub doesn’t have the space for large groups, but wants regulars to know they’ve nothing against Christmas jumpers:

It’s more to do with large groups. Nothing to do with the jumpers, now.

8. The Thomas House, Thomas Street

Like The Black Sheep, this rock bar is keeping a close eye on 12 Pubs groups:

We’ll be taking them in at our discretion. We’ll be fairly hard on them – we’ll take them up to pub three or four.

9. Mulligan’s, Stoneybatter

Mulligan’s is keeping it quiet this year.

10. Fallon’s, The Coombe

Fallon’s is also out of the 12 Pubs equation.

11. The Long Hall, George’s Street

It’s a hard no from The Long Hall:

12. Slattery’s, Rathmines

This charming Rathmines local is not welcoming the 12 Pubs crowds.

13. The Cobblestone, Smithfield

Correction: DailyEdge.ie was originally told that the Cobblestone will not be taking in 12 Pubs groups, however, we’ve been informed that they will, but at their discretion.

Also on the Publin.ie list were Bowe’s of Fleet Street, The Old Stand, Walsh’s of Stoneybatter, and Anseo – we weren’t able to contact these places to confirm.

Know any more places to seek refuge from the 12 Pubs madness? Put them in the comments.
