THE CHAIRMAN OF Punchestown racecourse has said he is disappointed that the festival will not be taking place this year but insists it is a postponement and not a cancellation.
No reasons were given for the postponement although it appeared increasingly likely it would happen when The Stones Roses announced they would play the Phoenix Park in Dublin on 5 July, the day before the festival would have theoretically got underway.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie this morning David Mongey indicated that the London Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee meant that resources for the event would have been stretched.
He also said the fact that Glastonbury wasn’t taking place in the UK may have contributed to the decision from organisers.
“We’re disappointed but we understand,” Mongey said. “I think that’s an important point. We’re grateful to MCD for staging the event at Punchestown – it’s a magnifient place.”
“We’re not that disappointed. It’s going to happen again next year, so we’ll say its postponed.”
Punchestown is the 5/4 favourite to host Oxegen in 2013. You can get the Rock of Cashel to be the venue at odds of 100 /1.

Punchestown chair disappointed over Oxegen but insists festival will be back
THE CHAIRMAN OF Punchestown racecourse has said he is disappointed that the festival will not be taking place this year but insists it is a postponement and not a cancellation.
Festival organisers MCD confirmed today that the annual three-day event would not take place at the Co Kildare venue in July of next year as it customarily has done in recent years, but organisers insisted it will be back in 2013.
No reasons were given for the postponement although it appeared increasingly likely it would happen when The Stones Roses announced they would play the Phoenix Park in Dublin on 5 July, the day before the festival would have theoretically got underway.
