THIS IS WHY using a grapefruit segment instead of a letter isn't always a good idea.

The headline appeared in Tuesday's Mankato Free Press, a newspaper in south-central Minnesota, over an article about grapefruit recipes.

The paper has since issued an embarrassed admission, noting: "The headline was intended to read "Grapefruit" [...] Instead, many readers interpreted the headline as "Rapefruit."

Free Press publisher Jim Santori said: "Obviously, in hindsight, we would have done this differently."
