RDS Horse Show kicks off tomorrow

Despite economy challenges has gone up in recent years.

THE RDS DUBLIN Horse Show begins tomorrow and is sure to attract a large crowd to Ballsbridge. Last year the Dublin Horse Show generated over €43m for the economy, and the spend per visitor was up from previous years – despite the recession.

RDS chief executive Michael Duffy put the success of the show down to renewal and communication. He said there are over 300 trade stands at the show and those attending are  a mixture of people who wish to see show jumping and those who simply want to enjoy the entertainment. He said the RDS is committed to aiding Ireland’s €500m horse industry.

Ladies day at Horse Show will take place on Thursday, and the winner will receive a €10,000 trip for two to San Francisco, including €2,000 in spending money. Kids can enjoy clowns, face painting and a nature zone and as has become tradition champagne and seafood will also be served at the festival.

The Horse Show runs from August 4th – 8th. Tickets can be bought online.
