WELL, IT’S SAFE to say that the real star of the royal wedding was American bishop Michael Curry.

Since 2015, Michael Curry has been leading the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, which is one of the most progressive churches in the world.

The  church appointed their first openly gay bishop in 2003, and introduced a rite of blessing for same-sex couples in 2012, which was three years before same-sex marriage was legalised across the United States.

Over the course of his sermon, Bishop Michael Curry quoted Martin Luther King, brought up slavery, world hunger, poverty and war. He knew he had a massive platform and he put it to good use.
