Airport staff mistook the Red Hot Chili Peppers for Metallica and got them to sign loads of CDs

Sure all ye rock bands are the same anyway.

THE RED HOT CHILI Peppers are currently touring Europe in support of their newest album, The Getaway.

They may have been around for more than 30 years, but that doesn’t mean people recognise them. At all.

The band was travelling through Belarus recently when airport staff mistook them for another rock band – Metallica. Oops.

Bassist Flea shared the story on Instagram, along with this picture of him scribbling on a Metallica DVD:

“We were called into the customs officials’ office at an airport in Belarus and they asked us to sign a bunch of Metallica CDs and photos,” he wrote.

We tried to explain to them that we weren’t Metallica but they insisted that we sign anyway. They had the power. I love Metallica anyways but I’m no [Metallica bassist] Robert Trujillo.

Nooooo! Hand back your Metallica fan club membership cards, Belarusian customs officials.
