Rent director Jim Sheridan’s house for €7,000 a month

The four-bedroomed house overlooking Dalkey Sound includes tidal swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, private jetty and private cinema – of course.

WANT TO GET into the movies? You can have the next best thing and live like a movie director – but only if you have €7,000 a month to spare.

Director Jim Sheridan’s house on Coliemore Road in Dalkey, Dublin is up for rent for that monthly amount. Sound a bit stiff? For that, you get floor to ceiling views through glass-plated walls over Dalkey Sound and access to a private tidal pool at the seafront.

The house, named ‘Martha’s Vineyard’ by Sheridan and his wife Fran, also features:

  • A remote-controlled home cinema that can house up to 20 people
  • High-spec security system
  • Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and wet room
  • Private jetty and room to store jet skis and motor boat
  • Underfloor heating
  • Wraparound balcony
  • Two kitchens
  • Four en-suite bedrooms
  • Full house sound system

Sheridan, who directed Oscar-winning films such as In the Name of the Father, My Left Foot and In America, previously engaged in a legal battle with contractors who were involved in the building of the house over alleged defective work carried out there. The case was settled but Sheridan had claimed that he had been unable to sell the house at a time when it was worth €7m. On this RTÉ Six-One news report in October of last year, Sheridan said it had been a “stressful” situation but that he had had a “good day in court”.
