THE SEMINAL METAL band Black Sabbath are back – and being reunited never felt so good.
The band chose today – 11/11/11 – to announce on their website that 33 years after they last brought their doom-inflected sounds to human ears, they’re back on the road.
Over the past decade, the band have been more well known in connection with frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who became a reality TV star when he and his family were filmed for MTV’s The Osbournes.
But they’re back to their roots again and will bring out their first new studio album in 33 years in 2012 – and it’s being produced by Def Jam founder Rick Rubin, who has also worked with the likes of Johnny Cash and Jay Z.
Sabbath say they will headline Download Festival on 10 June 2012 and are promising a world tour to come.
The official announcement was made at Hollywood’s Whisky A Go Go Club, by the band’s original line up – Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler.
