HOLLYWOOD LEGEND Richard Dreyfuss was on the Late Late Show last night.
He’s in town for the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, and attended a screening of Jaws – the film that helped make his name.
Just before the Late Late Show, Dreyfuss was introduced to the 14-year-old Irish granddaughter of Robert Shaw – his Jaws co-star who played Quint, the troubled fisherman.
Shaw died in 1978 at the age of 51, of a heart attack while driving home to Tourmakeady, Co Mayo. RIP.
Shaw’s granddaughter was invited to attend after contacting Ryan Tubridy’s radio show about her distant connection to Dreyfuss.
As she looked on, the actor became visibly emotional when speaking about meeting her – which he said had been a kind of closure for him after Shaw’s premature death.
