Rihanna furious at ‘S&M’ censorship
SINGER RIHANNA IS furious that her latest single has been edited for radio and has hit out at BBC Radio4 for broadcasting the ‘clean’ version during a Sunday chart show - despite her own record label releasing it.
When informed of the edit by a fan on Twitter, Rihanna tweeted: “Are you f*cking kidding me??? I’m on it!”
The title of her new song was changed from ‘S&M’ to ‘Come On’ and had all references to “sex,” “chains” and “whips” removed, the Guardian reports.
One fan tweeted the singer, saying: “U okay with this Come On situation?” to which she replied: “Absolutely NOT!!!”, MTV reports.
However, it was Rihanna’s own record label, Def Jam, that had distributed the edited version of her song to commercial radio stations.
A BBC spokesperson told Newsbeat: ”During daytime hours, as younger audiences are listening, we are playing [Rihanna's] radio edit, which is called Come On. However, we will continue to play the original track in specialist shows with an appropriate introduction.”
