Rihanna is doing excellent Twitter commentary on World Cup games

She’s basically your dad.

AT THIS STAGE, many of us have been affected by World Cup fever, an illness that causes you to rationalise staying up to watch “just the first half” of Russia and South Korea. And Rihanna is not immune.

Over the past few days, she has been sharing her thoughts on some of the World Cup matches.

It started when she followed the Fútbol Twitter account, a Spanish-language account that shares football-related quotes and photos all day long.

Then the commentary started. On June 16th, she found herself watching Germany vs. Portugal:

She felt conflicted, though:

She acknowledged Germany’s superiority:

Then she tweeted this photo of an ashtray:

She retweeted a fan account that asserted that Germany was part of the #RihannaNavy:

When it came to Ghana-USA, her allegiance was clearly with the Americans, until she realised she fancied one of the Ghanaians. (Celebs, they’re just like us!)

She offered some strong insights into Holland v. Australia:

Finally, last night she taunted England in their fixture against Uruguay:

She gave respect where respect was due:

But she called out England’s defence…

…while heaping the highest praise imaginable to Uruguay:

We look forward to more of these sorts of insights for Honduras vs. Ecuador tonight, AKA ‘The Big One’.
