Robert De Niro's New York City apartment damaged in fire
ROBERT DE NIRO was not in the US when the Manhattan apartment he normally resides in was damaged by a fire on Friday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the actor said that although he does live in the Central Park West building, he is currently out of the country.
The fire was extinguished by the NYC Fire Department within an hour yesterday and no injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now underway.
According to the New York Times, the fire started on the fourth floor of the 12-story building at about 2pm, local time. Residents believe it began in the laundry room of De Niro’s apartment which spans the fourth, fifth and sixth floors.
The New York Post reported that the fifth floor was extensively damaged from the fire, smoke and water.
