Romanian politician defends dancing on chat show

Edmond Talmacean has defended breaking out the dance moves on a daytime chat show, saying “it’s good to have fun”.

A ROMANIAN POLITICIAN has created controversy after demonstrating his moonwalking skills on national television.

Edmond Talmacean, 40, broke out his Jackson-inspired moves while on a daytime chat show, gliding across the studio floor and dancing over to female guests.

He defended himself yesterday after drawing criticism for his antics, saying to the Associated Press: “Dancing is another kind of political message to appeal to the younger generation, that it is good to have fun … that you can go to a disco and dance”.

The leaders of his political party don’t seem to see things in the same light however, and have ordered him to calm down and act more professionally.

Despite Prime Minister Emil Boc saying that Talmacean’s routine was better suited to “showbiz” than politics, it seems he is unapologetically standing by his actions: “I danced, I sang. These are the qualities of the Romanian people,” he said.

After watching the video, we suspect that if the Michael Jackson backing track wasn’t playing we’d be slightly bewildered as to what dance he is attempting… but he seems to be enjoying himself.
