Ron Burgundy to make sports commentary debut in Canada this weekend
RON BURGUNDY WILL make his sportscasting debut in Canada this weekend as he co-commentates on a rip-roaring curling clash in Winnipeg.
Will Ferrell, who plays Burgundy in the upcoming Anchorman 2 movie, will join veteran TSN curling commentator Vic Rauter at ‘Roar of the Rings’ on Sunday. The event will determine which teams will represent Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
In a statement released to the Canadian broadcaster, Burgundy declared: “Marked by the gods of broadcasting and placed into this shimmering green sphere like a golden egg in hay, chosen like an unclean jackal by Noah himself, I accept your hallowed task and sing out with a battle cry worthy of your love and your wisdom. And that song is, ‘Winnipeg, get ready to paint the town Burgundy!”
Burgundy also penned an autobiographical note to be included in the TSN release about his commentary debut. It read: “Ron Burgundy is an award-winning News Anchorman and poet. He lives with his wife, Veronica, and dog, Baxter, in San Diego, California.
In recent weeks, the svelte anchorman has taken time out to release a book, ride a tandem bicycle with Daft Punk in Amsterdam and comment on the finale of series four of Love/Hate.
