Cliona from Room To Improve is standing up for John the builder after Sunday's episode

IN CASE YOU missed it, Sunday’s episode of Room To Improve was perhaps one of the most controversial in a long time.

Much of the online debate in the aftermath of the show hinged on the amount of money the show’s latest couple, Cliona and Michael, spent on the refurbishment in total, but that wasn’t all.

Twitter also got the serious hump with John the builder after Michael learned of a list of unexpected extras that amounted to €20,000.

Cue one of the most tense moments in Room To Improve history as Dermot, Michael and John hashed out the expenditure in front of the cameras.

And John really got the brunt of Twitter’s irritation.

Cliona, however, wasn’t having it.

Leaping to John’s defense on Twitter, she insisted that the public criticism is misplaced and she is only thrilled at the work he put into their Killester home.

Our builder @JWCONSTRUCTIO10 got a roasting on Twitter last night. We found John fantastic, lovely to deal with and super fast. Thanks for our lovely new home. #roomtoimprove
