Katie from Room to Improve thinks Dermot deserves an Oscar after last Sunday's episode

Apparently it was all editing and acting skills.

OH, IT’S AWKWARD.

Days after an entire nation questioned a woman’s love of china cups and distaste for open plan, the woman in question has responded.

And she thinks Dermot Bannon is to blame.

Katie Ryan, who appeared on the latest episode of Room To Improve, was the talk of Twitter on Sunday night as the nation struggled to wrap their heads around her decision to enlist Dermot’s help and then dismiss almost everything he said.

However, it seems the viewing public have gotten it all wrong, and it was the show’s editing and Dermot’s acting skills that caused all the confusion.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader, Katie insisted that there is no animosity between herself and the designer.

The programme is highly edited and Dermot deserves an Oscar after it. Off camera, Dermot and I got on very well together and were laughing to tears in a lot of scenes. In some of the scenes, you can even see him holding back a smile, even when we were fighting about the wall.

In fact, if you want any further proof that Dermot and Katie are only delighted with each other, they’re still texting long after the completion of the project.

He texted me on Sunday night and I texted him and I was like, ‘you were holding back a laugh’ and he said, ‘I was holding back a laugh for most of it.’ We did have an enjoyable time together. There were over 50 hours of footage that wasn’t used.

And as for the notions Katie supposedly has? Yep, everyone was wrong on that one as well.

Hot pink chaise longue and china cup collections aside, Katie is as grounded as anyone else who has appeared on the show.

It came across that I have some serious notions and Dermot even said at the start about notions. Well, I don’t have any notions – I’m living on a farm in the middle of the countryside.

Well sure, notions or not, Katie was definitely one of the most memorable clients the show has ever featured.
