Dermot Bannon said he has 'no regrets' about his gas appearance on Blind Date in the 90s

He’s even got the curtains going on.

DERMOT BANNON IS well known for matching people with their perfect gaff.

However, back in the 90s, his only television appearance was in an attempt to find his perfect love match.

Dermot was first reminded of his appearance on Blind Date when he appeared on The Late Late Show back in 2011.

His 1994 appearance on the show will just not be forgotten.

Yesterday, he appeared on Ray D’Arcy’s RTE Radio 1 show and was asked about it again. He said he had no regrets appearing on the Cilla Black-hosted show, and did it because he was in university in the UK at the time.

They had a roadshow where they went around all the students unions and held auditions. I went with a few Irish lads with me, and when I came out of the audition they were all gone, then I got through!
One of the reasons I went on and did the show was to give the lads and everybody I knew a bit of craic. I was a little bit of the clown. I’ll do this on behalf of you, i’ll take one for the team!

He wasn’t picked, but the lady in question apparently made eyes at him after.

She’s a TV presenter in the UK. Jenny Falconer is her name. I think she does breakfast TV shows.

Hold on, what?

Jenny Falconer and Dermot Bannon could have been a power couple?

Dermot has three kids with his wife Louise now, and she’s almost over his first TV role.

Louise is just about okay with it now! No, she’s not, she’s grand. Look, it’s one of those things.
I don’t regret many things in my life. I don’t even regret it. Working at what I do, I try to be taken seriously. I’m more comfortable with it now than maybe ten years ago.

Words to live by.
