ROSEANNE BARR HAS taken to Twitter to condemn those supporting James Gunn’s reinstatement as director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
65-year-old Barr, who made a racist comment about Valerie Jarrett – a former senior advisor to former President Obama – in May of this year, compared public reaction to her remarks with that of Gunn’s.
Gunn was dismissed by Walt Disney Studios last Friday after ‘jokes’ he tweeted referring to paedophilia and genocide over a decade ago resurfaced in recent weeks.
Comparing her situation to that of the 51-year-old filmmaker’s, Roseanne tweeted:
I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes-as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand.

The actress’s tweet has been met with a mixed reaction, with some Twitter users stating they’re in agreement with her while others highlighted differences in the two cases.
Here are just some of the responses which followed Roseanne’s tweet.
Team Gunn
@therealroseanne James Gunn's tweets were a decade old, and were just that, JOKES, in bad taste, but still JOKES, JOKES that he has already apologized for.

Camp Roseanne
I am sorry you’re being treated so badly. I wish we could somehow come back to a nation of rational people who can openly discuss issues once again without threatening each other in the dialogue.

More proof positive that the entertainment industry was aiming for you. You are different, you don’t follow the horde, your show showed a different side. And the elites couldn’t handle it. It is unjust and unfair!

Over 300,000 people have signed a petition urging Disney to re-hire James Gunn following his dismissal last week, while Roseanne was fired by ABC – a Disney-owned network.
