Craig Doyle will return to RTÉ's screens with a new Tuesday night chat show.

RTÉ announces 110 new and returning series in autumn schedule

Familiar faces like Mike Murphy, Gráinne Seoige and Zig and Zag will join the likes of Jedward on RTÉ’s screens this autumn.

FAMILIAR FACES LIKE Gráinne Seoige, Craig Doyle and broadcasting veteran Mike Murphy will join the likes of Jedward to RTÉ’s screens this autumn.

Seoige, the current features editor of ITV’s morning show Daybreak, will return to Irish screens to host a new sports quiz show, Put ‘Em Under Pressure, while Doyle – whose 2010 Saturday night chat show performed poorly – will take command of a similar chat show on Tuesday evenings.

Mike Murphy will come out of retirement for a six-week interview series called The Big Interview, while Zig and Zag will host an hour-long bloopers show.

As had been revealed last week, Jedward are to host a Jim’ll Fix It-style show named OMG, Jedward’s Dream Factory.

Reality shows will include the first-ever series of Masterchef Ireland, with Michelin-starred chef Dylan McGrath and Nick Munier acting as judges, and Brian and Pippa’s Big Fat Wedding – a fly-on-the-wall series following Brian Ormond and Pippa O’Connor in the days before their wedding.

The All-Ireland Talent Show has been scrapped, replaced with a new Irish version of the international franchise The Voice – a show RTÉ claimed would “put the emphasis firmly on the quality of the participant’s vocal performance rather than their appearance.”

Documentaries in the autumn-winter schedule include a two-part analysis of Fianna Fáil’s time in government, Derek Mooney’s new Genealogy Roadshow, and a 2011 follow-up to Richard Curran’s 2007 documentary Futureshock which anticipated the property crash.

The Constant President will follow Mary McAleese through the final year of her 14 years in Áras an Úachtaráin, while George Lee returns to television screens in Pension Shock which will examine how pensions funds have been affected by the financial turmoil.

In a first for RTÉ, the second series of Fade Street will be broadcast via the online RTÉ Player before its airing on RTÉ Two.

Popular dramas Love/Hate and RAW will return, as will comedy troupe Hardy Bucks and the online drama competition StoryLand.

RTÉ’s director of TV Glen Killane said the national broadcaster was “not only committed to providing the best quality television to our audience, [but] we are also making a pledge to make our content more immersive and accessible than ever before through the use of digital technology.”
