So Ruby Rose used to run around in cardboard batwings pretending to be a superhero as a kid

Good preparation for her new role as Batwoman so!

IT’S BEEN A big week for Ruby Rose. Ruby’s new movie ‘Meg’ is hitting cinemas and it was also revealed that she’s been cast as Batwoman for the upcoming TV series and will be the first lesbian superhero in a lead role.

Ruby appeared on Jimmy Fallon last on Tuesday to promote ‘Meg’ but was first asked about the new role. Ruby revealed she only found out that about being cast an hour before the premiere of Meg which isn’t exactly the best timing and made the red carpet a little more tricky than normal.

I kept spontaneously crying and everyone always says ‘What have you got planned next?’ and I thought either I’m going to put my foot in it and accidentally say something or I’m gonna just start crying and they’re gonna be like ‘Oh, she doesn’t look so good!’”

Not ideal.

But it turns out that Ruby is the perfect person to cast as Batwoman as she used to run around with cardboard wings strapped to her, pretending to be a bat. So basically Ruby was Batgirl.

Little Ruby used to dress up as a bat because her mother has a bat tattoo on her shoulder as her mother used to keep pet bats. As you do.

So we grew up with not a lot of money so I used to make my toys. So I made batwings out of recycled cardboard boxes and I would sleep in them and I would run around in them and I would jump off high things. We would have to keep gaffe taping them because they were soggy and wet and gross and I just lived in them. And now I’ll get ones that aren’t made of cardboard.”

Excuse me, I have something in my eye.

But what’s the best part for Ruby about being Batwoman?

Not only can kids growing up watch this and relate to it, feel empowered and think they can be superheroes but also I can go and visit hospitals and kids in need [as Batwoman].”

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

What a hero.
