The Aussie actress, who identifies as gender fluid, is due to play Kate Kane, aka ‘Batwoman’, in an upcoming DC Universe crossover event. Significantly, the role will be the first lesbian superhero to lead a TV Series.

However, Ruby’s casting split opinion among the fandom of the DC Universe.
Whilst the choice was celebrated by some, it received sharp criticism from others.
Ruby ended up getting so much s**t on Twitter that she posted a series of Tweets explaining how confusing the past couple of days had been:

Ruby went on to express her wish that communities would lift each other up rather than ‘tear each other down’.
With Twitter becoming a drain on her energy, Ruby announced that she would be taking a break from the social media for the foreseeable future.
It’s worth noting that Heath Ledger got a lot of slack when his casting as The Joker was first announced.

So Ruby should really be given a chance to display her acting skills before there’s a judgement passed.
