A LOT OF chatter about ‘Middle Ireland’ or ‘Rural Ireland’ went down during the lead-up to the referendum.

The referendum results showed that there is much less of a cultural divide between rural and urban areas than had been discussed in the media.

The Rubberbandits hit the nail on the head after the results.

Also, the lack of a significant predicted divide between rural and city areas when it came to this referendum is an important cultural signifier for Ireland. The backwards Culchie is a redundant pre internet trope.
