Russell Brand tells Irish people to 'take the day off work' for water charges protest

Comedian made the statement in latest YouTube video.

JUST HOURS AFTER he landed himself in hot water for tweeting a journalist’s phone number, Russell Brand has released a video urging Irish people to “take the day off work” for this Wednesday’s anti water charges protest in Dublin.

In the latest installment of The Trews, Brand discusses the issue with Unite’s Brendan Ogle and urges Irish people to attend the protest taking place in Merrion Square on Wednesday.

If you are an Irish person or an English person or a Scottish person, you could support this with a little ferry trip or plane ride. Don’t go to work that day. Take the day off work, because big corporations are doing you over at every opportunity not paying their taxes.

He added:

You, the Irish people, fought to kick the British out of your country. Now your own government are ripping you off over water. Get on to the streets.

He then stated that he “might turn up” himself.

This is not the first time that Brand has weighed in on water charges.

He previously tweeted his support for a water charges protest taking place in Limerick and explored the topic in a previous episode of The Trews.
