Russell Brand is backing a water charges protest in Limerick
RUSSELL BRAND HAS made his feelings about Ireland’s water charges clear in the past. But now, he’s stepped up his engagement.
He wants people in Limerick to turn out for a protest this Saturday.
It’s not known whether Brand is planning on attending the protest himself. He has no tour dates scheduled for Limerick this weekend (or in fact, at all).
The event’s organisers have said that Brand is just “the latest celebrity” to back the protest, which they’re hoping at least 10,000 people will turn up for.
Brand previously addressed Ireland’s water charges as part of his The Trews video series.
In the video, Brand says that companies which have used the ‘Double Irish’ loophole should contribute to fixing the water infrastructure in the country instead of the new charge.
