10 reasons why Russell Crowe totally deserves to be an honorary Irish man

Anyone who loves Brian McFadden that much deserves to be accepted by us.

IN ANTICIPATION OF the release of his album IGP The Musical, Russell Crowe shared a video of himself singing Fields of Athenry that was extremely reminiscent of that one uncle every Irish person has that starts singing at weddings and funerals.

This led to the realization that Russell Crowe could very well be an Irish person. Or at least deserves the title of an honorary Irish man.

1. It’s well known that Russell’s a huge fan of the country

2. And he’s a *bit* of a pint man

3. I’m sure Paddy Losty said this at some stage

4. Like the rest of us, he loves Sing Street

5. Unlike the wannabe Irish American’s who can’t muster up anything more authentic than a “Top of the morning”, Russell Crowe even uses the word ‘Bejesus’.

6. He knows that our tea is superior

7. He’s big into Irish rugby

8. And has been for years

In fact before weeks before Richard Harris had died in 2002, the pair had planned to go to an Irish rugby match together. When Harris passed, Russell Crowe attended the game alone and went for a pint afterwards. He wrote a verse in memory of Harris on the coaster in the pub while he had that pint and performed it later to pay homage to him.

9. He managed to make Jamie Heaslip a little bit jealous of his feelings towards Munster

10. For a non-Irish individual, he has an inordinate interest in Brian McFadden
