The actress, who was nominated for her performance in Loving, has been cited by many publications, including Vogue, as among the best-dressed at the awards ceremony.

It was quite a night for Negga with the Limerick actress also earning a coveted shout-out from Meryl Streep.

While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award, Street noted the diversity in the room and pointed to Negga as an example of how Hollywood is populated with actors from all different kinds of backgrounds.

Sarah Jessica Parker was one of seven or eight kids from Ohio. Amy Adams was born in Vicenza, Italy, and Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem — where are their birth certificates? And the beautiful Ruth Negga was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, raised in — no, in Ireland, I do believe, and she’s here, nominated for playing a small-town girl from Virginia. Ryan Gosling, like all the nicest people, is Canadian. And Dev Patel was born in Kenya, raised in London, is here for playing an Indian raised in Tasmania.

(Streep very almost said that Negga was raised in London, but quickly corrected herself. We’ll leave her off the hook this time.)
