Ryan Tubridy headed back to BBC for breakfast show stint

It looks like BBC bosses were impressed by Tubridy’s performance last year – he’s landed another high-profile slot.

RYAN TUBRIDY IS headed back to the BBC this summer to present a high-profile breakfast radio show.

Tubridy will stand in for Chris Evans on his Radio 2 show – which goes out weekdays from 6.30 to 9.30am – for ten weeks.

The BBC decision suggests producers were impressed by Tubridy’s performance last summer, when he presented Graham Norton’s Saturday morning slot. The weekday breakfast programme represents a bigger commitment.

Speaking after the announcement, Tubridy said he “knew the territory fairly well” having presented his own 2FM breakfast show for three years.

It’s great to be back at the BBC for another stint, especially as it’s the show that was once presented by the incomparable Irishman, Terry Wogan and now run by one of my all-time favourite broadcasters, Chris Evans. It’s going to be a good summer and I look forward to meeting the listeners.

In a press release, the BBC described Tubridy as “arguably the biggest chat show host and television presenter in Ireland.”

Our Ryan’s first BBC show last year got a generally positive reaction – though some listeners were not so impressed.

He’ll also be a one-off stand-in for Evans this bank holiday Monday, and a BBC spokesperson said Tubridy would be a “regular voice throughout the year” as well as his ten-week summer stint.
