2fm really adamant that Ryan Tubridy isn't going anywhere

Right. He’s staying put.

DOES RYAN KNOW, we wonder?

About the kerfuffle he is creating over here while he whistles away to old Beatles tracks at BBC Radio 2.

The RTÉ star in on his annual jaunt across the Irish sea for a stint filling in for Simon Mayo and, while he’s gone, his permanent residence at 2fm has come under threat.

According to reports this morning, the Late Late Show presenter could be making his way back to Radio One after ‘shedding’ 15,000 listeners in the latest figures.

Shedding listeners. *Shudder*

Over the past year, Tubridy’s show has lost 10% of his audience which now stands at 144,000. Who can beat that? Former Westlifer Nicky Byrne for one.

nicky byrne

Despite the numbers, 2fm is adamant it is keeping the Big Man.

Losing Tubs for a few weeks to BBC is one thing, but the station is not prepared to let him scooch across Montrose to RTÉ Radio One.

The talk this morning was that Ronan Collins (who is killing it – in a good way – in the latest JNLRs) will make way for Tubs, giving up his noon slot and 218,000 listeners.

A spokesperson for the station, however, told DailyEdge.ie that there is absolutely no truth to any of the reports. Both Collins and Tubridy are happy just where they are, she said.

They also tweeted about it.

Let’s just watch this space, eh?
