Irish S-Town listeners are having the same thought every time 'horology' is mentioned
OVER THE PAST week, people have been getting stuck into to S-Town, the addictive new podcast from the makers of Serial.
The story centres on John B MacLemore, a man from a ‘sh*t town’ in the backarse of Alabama who fixes antique clocks for a living.
He contacts reporter Brian Reed for help in investigating some local mysteries, and what emerges is a story with many twists and turns (none of which shall be divulged here).
At one point in the podcast, Brian admits that he didn’t know what horology – the study of time and/or clocks – was before he met John.
To which everyone in Ireland replied: “WELL WE DID ACTUALLY, BRIAN.”
We are, of course, referring to the legendary John Joe Brennan, who introduced the country to horology during his appearance on the Late Late Toy Show in 2009.
People up and down the country are listening to this podcast and remembering little John Joe:

Will we ever truly be over John Joe, as a nation? We think not.
TO FIX CLOCKS, YES. :’)
