Sacha Baron Cohen to play Freddie Mercury
THE CREATOR OF Borat, Bruno and Ali G – Sacha Baron Cohen – has it easy for his new project.
Over the past several years, Cohen has been renowned for mortifying unsuspecting interviewees on camera – who, to be fair, usually deserved it for being so vain, dim or downright racist in the first place.
We’re more than used to seeing Cohen squeezing into a florescent mankini, hiding under the weight of a face-enveloping moustache, or mincing around Paris Fashion Week wearing little more than leather chaps a smile.
But now, playing role of legendary frontman Freddie Mercury for the upcoming Queen biopic, he won’t have to put quite as much thought into pulling off his disguise.
Already Mercury’s mirror-match, Cohen will have little more to do than put on a white jumpsuit, sit back, and learn his lines for the upcoming film – which is being written by Peter Morgan and co-produced by Robert De Niro.
The film will tell the story of the Queen’s years leading up to the band’s iconic performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert, and production will begin next year.
Anyway, don’t take our word about the doppelganger situation, check it out for yourself. Spot the difference?
