BACK IN 2000, our very own Samantha Mumba achieved worldwide chart success with her bona fide banger Gotta Tell You.

At the time, Mumba even managed to ‘break America’ with the song reaching number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Not bad for a teenager from Dublin, eh?

Earlier this week, Billboard Magazine compiled a list of the 100 Greatest Choruses of the 21st Century. All the usual suspects were there – Call Me Maybe, Mr. Brightside, Ms. Jackson, Ignition (Remix).

Coming in at no. 74 was none other than Gotta Tell You. Here’s what the magazine had to say about the song:

When the strings crescendo into the hook of the Dublin pop sensation’s 2000 hit, Mumba’s chorus flows in like a waterfall. The urgency of the message (“Don’t wanna tell you this now, but it wouldn’t be right/ If I didn’t tell you this tonight”) inspired turn-of-the-century teens to pump the brakes and listen to their conscience before jumping in the sheets.

Among the songs Gotta Tell You bested? The Thong Song, All The Things She Said and Can’t Fight The Moonlight.
