IRISH ACTRESS SAOIRSE Ronan has been nominated for a ‘Young British Performer Of The Year’ award by the London Film Critics’ Circle.

The actress – who was raised in Carlow, born in New York and now lives in Dublin – received the nomination from the UK film critics’ industry group for her appearance in The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Ronan holds both Irish and American citizenship, but has previously spoken about her pride in being Irish.

She tweeted after watching Brendan Behan’s classic Borstal Boy:

Sorry London film critics.
