ITV’S THIS MORNING is peak comfort viewing. 

Unless you work night shifts, work from home, or have the responsibility of childcare, there’s a good chance you’re out of the house every day when the show airs, which means that it’s reserved solely for sick days or days off, so you’ll associate it with being nice and comfy. 

It turns out that this is also how Saoirse Ronan feels. Today she went on This Morning to talk about Mary Queen of Scots with Phillip and Holly, and towards the end of the interview, Phillip asked her what she’d be doing on Tuesday when the Oscar nominations will be announced. Saoirse replied, “I’ll probably just be at home, walking the dog.” Holly interjected and joked, “Eating pizza in your pyjamas, probably”, after Saoirse left the Golden Globes early to get into her PJs and order a pizza. 

Saoirse joked, “Yeah, yeah. I’ll probably just be eating pizza. Like, at ten o’clock in the morning.” Finally, Phil told Saoirse, “It’s so lovely that you came to see us today.” It looks like the pleasure was all Saoirse’s, because she replied:

I’ll just say – when I’m away, I’ll get on the phone to my mam and I’ll say, “I just miss watching Phil and Holly on the television because I watch you guys every day! So like, when I’m away, genuinely, this is what I miss watching. More than anything else! 

Look at how delighted Phillip and Holly were! So wholesome.

 Aside from telling Phil and Holly how much she loved them, Saoirse spoke all about Mary Queen of Scots (which is finally out tomorrow) for ages. Saoirse also complained about “the bloody corsets!” 

It changes your shape. After we wrapped, for about a month afterwards, myself and all the girls had this weird – I mean, it was great – we had this weird hourglass shape because we had these corsets put onto us every day and the warmer the corset gets throughout the day, they tighten it more. You’re like, I can finally breathe now, and then they come over and tighten it more. We had different body shapes. It’s mad.
