YOU’D HAVE TO be living under a rock to miss the fact that Saoirse Ronan is now a Very Serious Actress.
The Carlow native has twice been nominated for an Oscar, and if the early buzz for her new film Lady Bird is anything to go by, she could be in line for another one.
But did you know that as a wee slip of a thing she was a stalwart of RTÉ’s drama programming?
She started her acting career at the age of nine on The Clinic, and followed it up with a stint on the 2004 drama Proof, about a journalist investigating human trafficking in Ireland.
RTÉ recently put the show back on the Player – and released a clip of 10-year-old Saoirse giving some lip to her on-screen parents:
So young, and so full of sass! Her ma is SHOOK.
Who could have known that 13 years later she’d be Hollywood royalty? Keep doing us proud, Saoirse.
