Here's why everyone is praising a Geordie Shore star for responding to criticism about her weight

She has described the comments on her weight as “straight up bullying”.

SARAH GOODHART FROM Geordie Shore went to the beach on Monday. That might be pretty unexciting news for you or me, but for the Daily Mail it was something that needed to be discussed.

The 23-year-old, like most women that age, wore a bikini to the beach. Because a bikini is swimwear. And you wear swimwear to the beach. Sounds simple, right?

According to the Daily Mail, the rationale behind her choice of swimsuit was to ensure that “every inch of her figure was on display” and to show her ex Marty McKenna what he was missing. In reality, it was probably because she was going for a swim.

I’m pretty sure this is the same publication that trashes burkinis and has mocked women for wearing wet suits. They also commented on the fact that she wore makeup to the beach – no doubt they would have commented if she hadn’t. There’s no winning.

The article has attracted some ridiculous comments.

Here’s one of the milder ones:

Overall, there were a lot of faceless commentators giving their unsolicited two cents on whether or not they believed that Goodhart had a nice figure.

Clearly annoyed by this, she took to Instagram to call them out.

Her post read:

[The photos were uploaded] and followed by a stream of comments about my weight/appearance that can only come up under the category of straight up bullying.

She called for a change in attitude:

Let’s create an atmosphere whereby young girls and boys do not look at an image of a size 8 woman enjoying herself at the beach in a negative light because Susan, 44, from Ipswich wasn’t hugged enough as a child.

Praise has flooded in for the reality TV star over on Twitter, where the tweet has gotten 17,000 likes.

Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan responded by telling Sarah “You look gorgeous!” while Scotty T shared the tweet with the message “Girl power”.
