5 offerings on Netflix if you plan to scare yourself senseless this weekend
IF YOU’VE YET to bow to the month that’s in it, and scare yourself senseless in your own living room, then it’s high-time you do it.

Halloween is just days away, meaning you have mere hours left until talk will officially turn to Christmas, and you’ll have missed the boat.
If you’re not into horror as such and have no time for pure gore – Saw, Hostel and the likes, we’re looking at you – but enjoy an old-fashioned scare, then it’s worth checking out the following five on Netflix.
Hush
Maddie is a deaf author, who lost the ability to speak after contracting meningitis at 13. She lives alone and finds herself in the midst of a nightmare one evening when an homicidal intruder stalks her home. Her lack of aural and oral senses makes for an incredibly tense 80 minutes which I had to watch in installments.
Creep
A videographer responds to an advertisment posted by a dying man, who wants to record messages for his son. Agreeing to spend the day with this individual, the videographer soon gets the sense that there is much to this meeting than meets the eye.
The Invitation
In a questionable move, one man makes the decision to bring his girlfriend to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife and her current partner. While fraught with tension throughout, this psychological thriller is somewhat of a slow burner, but its finale is among the most unsettling.
Haunted
From the Executive Producers of The Purge franchise and Lore, Haunted gives a chilling glimpse into the first-person accounts from people who have witnessed horrifying, peculiar, extraordinary supernatural events and other unexplained phenomenons that continue to haunt them.
The Lodgers
Rachel and Edward are two siblings, who live in a debilitated mansion in 1920s rural Ireland, and are under the house’s curse; the rules of which they strictly adhere to until Rachel chooses not to…
And by the way, this was shot in what is considered one of Ireland’s most haunted houses.
