The Script bought a round for 8,000 fans in Belgium for Paddy's Day
FOR THE LAST few years, St. Patrick’s Day has mainly been associated with one thing; drinking. Take any picture from the webcam at Temple Bar from March 17th and you’ll see what I mean.
Enter Irish band the Script who were performing in Brussels, Belgium on St. Patrick’s night and decided to bring some ‘Irishness’ to the party.
The lads bought 8,000 of their fans a drink at the venue in an attempt to break the Guinness (ironic) World Record for the biggest round of drinks bought in one go. How very Irish. It’s lucky for these fans that the Script are from Dublin rather than Cavan.
In a video on the band’s Twitter, Danny explained why they band chose to be so generous.
He then went on to teach the crowd the word ‘Sláinte’ and everyone cracked into their free pints before the band launched into their song ‘Paint The Town Green’. We see what you did there Danny.
The song itself is from their fourth album ‘No Sound Without Silence’ and is about not being home for Paddy’s Day.
I sincerely hope Brussels survived being painted green but a nice gesture here from the lads. Even if it does feed into the stereotype that we’re never, ever sober.
Hey, at least the fans enjoyed it.
Their generosity hasn’t stopped with fans at their Munich show receiving free gingerbread hearts last night. Very cute.
