Sean Penn in Dublin to shoot new film
SEAN PENN has been spotted out and about in Dublin today – and will reportedly begin shooting in the Irish capital on a new film next week.
The €21m production, This Must be the Place, will also feature Frances McDormand, Simon Delaney, Olwen Fouere and Eve Hewson – Bono’s daughter.
The project, which received € 500,000 funding from the Irish Film Board, will be the English language debut of Italian director Paolo Sorrentino.
Penn is set to star in the film as “middle-aged wealthy rock star bored in his retirement, who takes on the quest of finding his father’s executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the US”.
Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne is also on board for the project and is signed to will produce the score for the movie – which is named after a famous Talking Heads track.
The cast and crew will be in Ireland until the end of the month, with the remainder of the shoot set to take place for New York, Detroit and New Mexico.
