Seth Rogen taught Tom Cruise about internet porn because he didn't know it existed

No, seriously.

LOOK, LET’S BE honest here, Tom Cruise is one of Hollywood’s biggest enigmas.

Despite the fact he’s been in the spotlight for more than 30 years, his approach to interviews, dedication to Scientology and excessively charming demeanour means many of us don’t quite…well… get him.

With that in mind, would you actually be surprised to learn that back in 2006 Tom had no idea internet pornography existed?

Mad, but true.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, director and producer, Judd Apatow, revealed that Seth Rogen was the first person to fill Tom in on the existence of online adult films.

And the re-telling truly is a sight to behold.

I did once have a meeting with Tom Cruise. He’s a very, very  nice man. I got asked to meet him. He was looking to potentially do, not an action movie, a romantic comedy.

So, what did Judd do?

We were shooting Knocked Up in 2006 and I said to Seth Rogen ‘I have a meeting with Tom Cruise, you have to come with me’. No one knew who Seth was. He wasn’t famous. He was just a dude with me. Someone needs to witness this.

So, what happened, Judd?

So we’re talking to him and I don’t know how it came up but it usually comes up with Seth where he starts talking about marijuana and pornography.

Go on…

And he starts talking about watching adult films on the internet and Tom Cruise goes ‘What?! You’re saying there’s adult films on the internet?’ And Seth is like ‘Yeah, there’s all these movies, all these websites!’

According to Judd, Tom could barely believe what he was hearing.

Wait a second, you’re saying if I go on the computer, the world wide web, there’s people having sex on this highway?

Naturally, Seth was only mad to chat.

Yeah I watch it all the time! It’s great! Everybody does it! It’s not a big deal anymore!

And if Seth Rogen’s retweet is anything to go by, the exchange remains one of the more memorable of his life.

Twitter was in absolute knots over Judd’s re-telling, with many people praising his uncanny Seth Rogen impression.

And to be fair, it’s top-notch.
