Her earliest makeup memories

“I’ve always loved applying, wearing and looking at makeup but sadly, I’ve never been overly invested in my own collection. I think it’s down to two reasons. Firstly, I’m really impatient when it comes to the finicky bits. Secondly, clothes have always been my biggest love, and as a teenager they were my top priority. As a result, I managed to ruin my makeup credibility from a very young age.

As a young girl coming of age in the late noughties, I thought it was my duty to lather Elizabeth Arden foundation on my face and lips whilst simultaneously applying black eyeshadow up to my non existent eyebrows. I’d never heard of blending and a kohl eyeliner was my biggest ‘must have’.

“Then, during college, I had the pleasure of living with a make-up artist who did my makeup for almost EVERY night out. This was so incredibly kind of her but also a contributing factor to my inability to blend and/or contour.

“Admittedly, it was touch-and-go for a while, but now at the age of 22, I feel as though I have finally arrived at my signature look – dewy skin, a strong flick and a bright lip (well that’s what I’m going for anyway).”

Her makeup bag and what’s inside

“My foundation of choice is the PS My Perfect Colour or if I’m feeling a bit boujee, Estée Lauder’s, Doublewear. Their lasting ability is absolutely incredible.

“My next essential item is the NYX Born to Glow liquid illuminator . I love lashing this on my cheekbones, nose and upper lip. I tend to go overboard sometimes, but usually with no regrets.

“I use a liquid liner to apply the flick. I don’t stick to one brand in particular but at the moment I’m using Catrice’s Matte Liquid Liner. It took a long time to get the hang of the cat eye liner but I usually aim to draw it in the direction of my outer eyebrow tip and then thicken it out.

“When it comes to make-up, lipstick is undoubtedly my biggest love. I feel as though it’s an extension of ones outfit and I never feel like mine is complete without it. I favour bright colours over nudes but sometimes I’ll throw a curve ball with a neural lip.

“I usually have a combination of PS and Rimmel lipsticks on the go but at the moment, I’m absolutely obsessed with the YSL Rouge Volupte Oil in Stick in shade 63, ‘Effervescent Fuschia’. It’s so glossy and gorge.

“I don’t really mind what kind of mascara I use but my FAVOURITE lashes are the PS ‘Sultry’ lashes. You cannot beat them.

“So, In general I stick to affordable brands with the odd lil’ treat thrown in. I couldn’t leave the house without foundation, highlighter, liquid liner, mascara, lipstick and something that gives me eyebrows! Anything will do! For special occasions I’ll delve into those bronzers, blushers, concealer and eyeshadows. Oh and sultry lashes, always sultry lashes.

“I’ve come along way since 2008, hopefully I’ll have a MUA worthy collection in 10 years time.”
