Sia decided to post a nude photo of herself after paparazzi threatened to sell it to fans

The singer undermined an agency trying to cash in on a photo of her bum.

SIA FURLER IS an extremely talented singer and songwriter.

The 41-year-old Australian has written hits for Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue (to name but a few). That’s on top of her own hugely popular songs – Chandelier, Cheap Thrills and Titanium.

In 2013, she wrote ‘My Anti-Fame Manifesto‘ for Billboard and opened up about how the constant criticism that comes with fame has had a very negative impact on her life.

She opened up to The New York Times about how badly she wanted to have some semblance of a private life after she was stopped for a photograph while having a discussion with a friend in public. This discussion involved her friend disclosing that they had cancer.

For a while after this, Sia stopped doing promos for tours. She began to (and still does, at present) wear masks and wigs to hide her identity. As far as celebrities go, she hasn’t got the worst of this experience, but she still feels as though it is too much. She wants to do her job and write songs, not find herself plastered all over magazines every time she goes out to the shops to get eggs.

Despite this, she’s still followed by intrusive paparazzi regularly.

A photograph agency was apparently trying to sell 15 images of Sia to her fans. She was naked in at least one of these photographs. This morning, the singer shared the photograph of her backside, which was visible as she stood on a balcony. With this photo, she wrote on Twitter and Instagram:

Someone is apparently trying to sell naked photos of me to my fans. Save your money, here it is for free. Everyday is Christmas!

Sia’s fans have applauded the move, which sabotaged any hopes that paparazzi had of cheaply profiting off of her body.

The fact that she posted the photograph does not diminish how seriously violating it is to have photos like this taken without consent. Instead, it shows the lengths that this woman has to go to in order to have some control over her own image.
