NOBODY WANTS TO be that person that loudly quotes TV shows.
But with The Simpsons, the phrases have become an everyday part of many of our lives. And now Harry Shearer is gone, we must remember his characters’ epic contributions:
1. “I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.”
You can just replace “insect” with anything to relate it to your everyday life.
2. “It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times?”
You stupid monkeys.
3. “It’s all over people! We don’t have a prayer!”
Reverend Lovejoy’s version of crisis management.
4. “I’ve done everything the Bible says – even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff.”
5. “This has nothing to do with you, Simpson. I have many, many issues with my beloved smother – mother.”
6. “Perhaps this pamphlet will prove useful.”
Dr Hibbert’s immortal line.
7. “Woah, windows. I don’t think I can afford this place.”
Home ownership might not be for Otto.
8. “I’m not principal of the line, mother.”
And you never will be.
9. “My eyes! The goggles do nothing.”
10. “Talking out of turn? That’s a paddlin’. Lookin’ out the window? That’s a paddlin’.”
11. “What’s wrong with this country? Can’t a man walk down the street without being offered a job?”
12. “A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man!”
“Embiggens? I never heard that word before moving to Springfield.”
“I don’t know why, it’s a perfectly cromulent word.”
